New Mexico State Police Investigate School Employee for Criminal Sexual Penetration
Colfax County- On March 11, 2014 New Mexico State Police in Raton were made aware of allegations of Criminal Sexual Penetration of a Minor. This initiated an investigation into the allegations.
The investigation revealed that Joshua Duran, 26, of Raton, NM had sexual intercourse with a 17 year old female Raton High School Student on March 7, 2014 near Raton. It was further revealed that Mr. Duran is a Boys Basketball Coach at Raton Schools and also works with Agave Health Incorporated, a non-profit organization that provides behavioral services to the school. His title is Behavioral Management Specialist.
Due to his role as coach and his duties with Agave, he would be considered to be in a position of authority over students at the school. Because of this, an arrest warrant was obtained for:
Criminal Sexual Penetration of a Minor (4th degree felony)
Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (4th degree felony)
Mr. Duran voluntarily turned himself in to State Police at the State Police office in Albuquerque on March 15, 2014 and was booked on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
This investigation is ongoing.
