David A Coca age 67 passed away on February 24, 2014 in Raton, New Mexico. He was born on August 18, 1946 in Raton, New Mexico to Anastacio and Maria Florentina Pacheco Coca. David was a Raton High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968 and did two tours in the Vietnam War where he was a helicopter mechanic and a crew chief in the Fourth 189th Ghostrider Company. After his service he retired to the states and became a truck driver and a Teamsters Union Member. He loved to work on 2-cycle engines and also participated in lawnmower tractor pulls. David also loved to fish and hunt and was known as being a joker.
David is survived by 2 sons Rocky Coca of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Derrick Apodaca of Albuquerque, NM, 8 grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, Brother Carlos and wife Helen Coca of Raton, sister Elaine Johnson of Raton, half-sister Dorothy Chavez of Dumas, TX. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends also survive.
David will be missed by all who knew him.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Monday March 3, 2014 at 9:00am at the St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by Deacon Thomas Alderette. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 9:30am with Father John Trambley as the Celebrant. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Arrangements for David Coca are under the care and direction of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
RIP David. You will be missed by all those that loved you. You were a good friend to my brother. I am sure you two are catching up in Heaven.
