After a long and extensive illness, Adolph “Dodie ” Valenzuela Jr. was called home on Monday January 6, 2014 to be with our Lord. He was born on January 12, 1961 in Raton’s Miners hospital. Dodie attended and graduated from Raton High School while participating in multiple sports. Dodie, worked for Kaiser Steel then homed his carpentry skills over many years of working n the Raton area.
Dodie is preceded in death by his father Adolph Valenzuela Sr., brother Kenny James Valenzuela, and grandparents Benito & Senaida Valenzuela and Pete & Reyes Muniz.
Dodie is survived by his daughter Rae Dawn Valenzuela and companion Larry Lucero the parents of Dodie’s grandchild Leim Lucero of Raton, NM, mother Elsie Muniz of Raton, NM brother Danny Joe Valenzuela of Albuquerque, NM, brother Robert Valenzuela and companion Rose Briggs of French Tract, NM, sister and brother-in-law Paula Valenzuela and Ralph Martinez Monte Vista, CO sister Nita Valenzuela of Raton brother Isaiah Valenzuela of Alamosa Co. and along with numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors also include special and life-long friends Anthony Ortega, Tim DiLisio, and David Ortiz.
Thank you everyone for your untold prayers and blessings. A special thank you to Rosella Muniz for providing transportation for Denver for Dodie’s doctor’s appointments and the endless support you generously provide. Thank you Andy Muniz and Tony Muniz for assisting Dodie’s mother Elsie with the continuous care Dodie required the past couple of years. Thank you Albert Pino for praying the rosary every week with Dodie. Thank you Deacon Thomas Alderette and Tina Martinez for your communion and prayers Dodie graciously anticipated each week.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 9:30 am recited by Deacon Thomas Alderette. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 am with Father John Trambley as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and Inurnment will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Arrangement for Adolph “Dodie” Valenzuela Jr. are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
