Mary Jane Baca, lovingly called “Jane” age 70, passed away at home on December 15, 2013.
She was born on May 23, 1943, one of nine children born to loving parents Doroteo and Erlinda (Mondragon) Baca.
Mary Jane Baca was born handicapped at birth, unable to hear or speak, although she experienced “islands of hearing” , her
limited vocabulary was clear, but sparse. She had no formal education, and did attend the Las Animas County Rehab Center for a short time, but was unable to complete tasks assigned to her. She visited with her friends at the Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed the short time she spent there.
She is predeceased by her parents and nephews Richard Baca Jr. and Warren Lee Abeyta, as well as other extended family members.
She leaves to cherish her memory, siblings, Richard (Starlight) Baca, Yolanda (Mike) Romero, Maria (Leroy) Abeyta, Albert (Juanita) Baca, Aurelia Schlenz, Felix (Brenda) Baca, Myra (Joe) Encinias and Connie Baca, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at the Comi Chapel. Rosary will be Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 7:00PM at the Comi Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Church.
Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Dave Gonzales, Felix Baca, Keenan Gonzales, Dillon Baca, Eric Schlenz and Sephra Baca.
Active pallbearers are Bobby Hernandez, Jared Hernandez Joseph Baca, Joe Encinias, David Baca and Dorty Baca..
The family gratefully acknowledges and deeply extends their gratitude to her caregivers and anyone who was kind and accepting of her disabilities. She in turn was thankful to those who were kind, loving and caring about her.
We will miss her smile and kindness of heart, but can appreciate and believe that she is in a place that knows the love of our Creator and the brightness of a brand new day. a new beginning.
