Peggy Ann Parsons age 80 of Raton, passed away Friday November 29, 2013 in Raton. She was born March 24, 1933 in Marion, Illinois the daughter of Harold Eyestone and Lela M. McNalley. Peggy had been a resident of the Maxwell and Raton area for over forty years. She was a horsewomen, and had a passion for Horses and dogs. One special horse was a palomino she called “Nug” that was a part of her life for over thirty two years. She broke, raised, trained and cared for many horses over the years.
Her love of dogs was obvious to anyone who knew her at all. One special one was “Bud” who she trained and brought her many hours of entertainment.
Peggy had a fascination for the west and a urge to write. As a result of that two books were written and published and a third was in the works. Many hours of research and handwritten notes went into the book, as she was not a computer Person. Oil painting and leatherwork was also added to the list of her accomplishments. She also founded and designed the ceramic “Mug Huts”.
Peggy was preceded in death by both of her parents. She was a supporter of the Humane Society and a true advocate of animals being treated right. She had been a member of the Red Hat Society and was an active member of the Raton Rodeo Association for many years.
Peggy is survived by her only child Sandra Murphree Howard and her husband Bart of Chickasha, OK. Two grandsons Cody Howard and wife Anne of Johnson City, TX, Casey Howard and wife Meagan of Chickasha, OK. One great grandson Ryker also of Chickasha, OK. A step-sister Jackie Crow of Lansing, MI.
Memorial services will be Thursday December 5, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Trice officiating.
