Gwendolynne Mares
(December 6, 1958 – October 23, 2013)
Gwen was born December 6, 1958 in Raton, New Mexico to Obed and Molly Ortiz. She worked at Taos Colfax Community Services for over 12 years. During this time, Gwen returned to college and in 2008, she received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from New Mexico Highlands University. Gwen was employed at Luna Community College where she educated the youth of Las Vegas in several courses. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM.
Gwen is survived by her sons Mario and Maverick and companion Patrick, sister Bernardine and husband David, special nephew Santiago and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who welcomed her into Heaven.
Gwen loved life, playing baseball, music, and dancing the night away.
Our lives were forever more blessed from knowing and loving Gwen.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held Monday November 4, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Raton New Mexico recited by Larry Guara. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will be held Tuesday November 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Raton, New Mexico with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
