Raton City Commissioners met Tuesday evening for another quick meeting as Raton Mayor Bobby Ledoux praised city Manager Butch McGowen for his good performance.
Commissioners approved Resolution 2013-41 the first budget adjustment for fiscal year 2013-2014 with little discussion.
Commissioners also approved Resolution 2013-42, which deals with more paperwork for the loan for the new ambulance through the New Mexico Finance Authority.
Commissioner then approved the contract with the Service Organization for Youth (SOY). There were some minor changes showing who is the contractor, the city, and the sub-contractor, SOY. The city will also serve as the fiscal agent for the JJAC grant that SOY administers.
City Manager Butch McGowen informed commissioners that Teddy Trujillo was the only applicant for a position on the Parks and Recreation board. They approved that appointment.
McGowen noted that Memorial Lane is now open. He also noted that the multi-modal center is moving forward with money from Main Street and other sources not money from the general fund.
County Commissioner Bill Sauble spoke to the commission about the efforts moving forward to help keep Amtrak running through the area. There will be a meeting in Santa Fe on November 12 with the Transportation Finance committee. Sauble noted that there will be a presentation given to that committee with additional ideas on how to finance the rail line. One proposal is that the state, along with the other states along the route and the feds put in $20 million each over the next 10 years to help maintain the rail.
McGowen also noted that the city audit was now in its second phase and the new software company would have trainers in to help with the software program training.
Commissioners will meet again on October 22 at 6:00 p.m.
