Joe Helms

Joe Helms, age 60, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, in Clayton, New Mexico.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Texline Methodist Church in Texline, Texas with Rev. Travis Husted and Rev. Jeff Bayley officiating. A second Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Mountainair, New Mexico with pastor Toney Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountainair Cemetery.
Joe Helms was born on July 5, 1953 in Portales, New Mexico to J. P. Helms and Ernestine (Howard) Helms. He graduated from Mountainair High School in Mountainair, New Mexico in 1971 and married Tracy Lynn (Helmstetler) Helms on June 4, 1977 in Roswell, New Mexico. Joe loved watching all sports, especially his son Chance playing basketball and all of the girls and boys sporting events of the Texline Tornadoes. He enjoyed raising and showing dairy goats and loved to visit with everyone. Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents and by his father.

3 SONS: Cody Helms and Vanessa Quintana of Marble Falls, Texas, Cory Helms and Dorothy Padilla of Clayton, New Mexico and Chance Helms of Texline, Texas.
MOTHER: Ernestine Helms of Mountainair, New Mexico.
7 GRANDCHILDREN: Courtney Helms, Chelsey Helms, Cody Helms, Chris Helms, Cleo Helms, Kyla Helms and Darla Jackson.
1 SISTER: Patsy Kingston and her husband Red of Mountainair, New Mexico.
1 BROTHER: Preston Helms of Seattle, Washington.
