The Raton School Board narrowed the list down to four candidates and will begin interviews on March 7th.

Randal Piper from Lordsburg, NM
Andy Ortiz – Longfellow School Principal
March 9th
Thomas Woody of Vernon, Texas
Duncan Ware – Raton High Princicpal
Too bad the board doesn’t know what they are looking for. They gave no direction to staff who volunteered to look through applications, only, “Pick your top three.” No guidance, criteria, or a rubric of sorts to guide them. And when they start asking staff members for questions to ask during the interview, shows how unprepared they are for this job. They failed horribly at the last superintendent hire; too bad they didn’t seek out sources who could help conduct a fair, logical and clear superintendent search. Instead they relied on the same ole, same ole. What’s the old adage? ” If you continue to do what you’ve always done, then you will continue to get what you’ve always got.” Or something like that.
