On Saturday, November 22, 2014 at approximately 11:40 AM, Raton Police Department officers responded to a call of shots fired. The investigation led to the arrest of Anthony M. Garcia, age 21 of Raton. Garcia allegedly fired a 9mm handgun in a residential area striking and killing Kevin Garcia, age 23 of Raton.
Anthony Garcia is currently being held without bond at the Vigil Maldonado Detention Center on a charge of Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Abuse of a Child, Shooting at a Dwelling and Tampering with Evidence.
The Office of the Medical Investigator conducted an autopsy on November 23, and the official report is pending. The case is still actively being investigated by the Raton Police Department where search warrants have been granted for collection of further evidence.
