Lucero"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"tm6\"><span class=\"tm7\">Mary L. Lucero, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Mt. San Rafael Hospital on December 7, 2025. She was born in Lafayette, CO on March 10, 1945. She attended Hoehne Schools and helped her family on the farm. While working at Trinidad State Nursing Home, she earned her certified nurse aid credential. She led a career lasting over thirty years in nursing, including home health care and hospice before retiring. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm6\"><span class=\"tm7\">Mary raised eight children. When her children were out of the house, you could find Mary teaching her grandchildren how to play cards, giving them coffee without their parents\u2019 permission, or taking them to bingo. Mary loved the Dallas Cowboys, soap operas, and western movies. Her most cherished memories were when all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren gathered and giggled. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm6\"><span class=\"tm7\">Mary is preceded in death by her children, Margaret Ann and Gary Lee Gonzales; granddaughter Vanessa Gonzales; grandmother Martina Gauna; parents Sadie and Sam Lucero; and siblings Robert and Joey Lucero and Elise Dominguez. She is survived by her children, Josephine Martinez, Richard (Rhonda) Gonzales, Theresa Martinez, Audrey (Mike) Bartsch, Lee (Valarie) Gonzales, and Sam (Daisy) Gonzales; grandchildren Robert Martinez, Matthew (Corey) Gonzales, Valorie Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Richard (Kristina) Gonzales, Amber Martinez, Maica (Adam) Gardner, Misty (Anthony) Arroyo, Miguel Flores, Don \u201cDJ\u201d (Shyann) Martinez, Monica Flores, Craig (Tiffany) Montoya, Amanda Gonzales, Maricela Flores, Lauren Montoya, Cody (Jade) Sanchez, Samantha Gonzales, and Dustin Gonzales; siblings Angie (Leo) Martinez, Isabell Badker, Marie Chavez, Hope (Ernest) Martinez, Annie (Michael) Morales, Sam Lucero, Johnny Lucero, and Billy Lucero. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm6\"><span class=\"tm7\">The public viewing will be at Comi Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 3-6 pm. On Thursday, December 18, 2025, the rosary will begin at 9:30am, followed by the funeral at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Preceding the funeral, a lunch will be provided at St. Joseph Hall (1704 Buena Vista St.). Contributions can be made to Comi Funeral Home. Family (Richard Gonzales) may be contacted at 309 E.
