RATON, NM \u2013 State officials will join Raton and Colfax County officials as internet service provider Resound Networks will break ground on a major high-speed internet infrastructure project that will
\nbring connectivity to 2,400 underserved locations across Raton and Colfax County.<\/p>\n
The Tuesday, July 22 ceremony at the Raton Aquatics Center at 11:30 am will mark the
\nbeginning of construction on a multi-million-dollar investment in Colfax County.
\nThe groundbreaking represents the local launch of a larger $85.79 million statewide
\ninitiative that will ultimately serve 29,875 locations across rural New Mexico through a
\ncombination of federal funding programs and private investment.<\/p>\n
Resound Networks is launching construction of a hybrid aerial fiber and fixed wireless
\nnetwork that represents a major investment in Raton’s digital future. This project, in
\npartnership with the New Mexico Broadband Office through the Connect New Mexico
\nFund, will provide high-speed connectivity to 1,370 locations in Raton, plus an additional
\n1,030 locations throughout Colfax County. These projects are part of the $19.8 million in
\nConnect New Mexico Funds awarded to Resound Networks throughout the state. In
\naddition, Resound will leverage $55.1 million from the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund and
\n$10.75 million from the Student Connect program to extend high-speed service to 29,875
\nlocations across rural New Mexico.<\/p>\n
