It was a snowy wintery afternoon as the West Las Vegas Lady Dons arrived in Raton for a district game Tuesday January 17, where they would easily handle the Lady Tigers to mark the win column in district play.<\/p>\n

The JV girls took the court and it was a back and forth low scoring game with Raton taking the lead and holding on to it to the bitter end when the Lady Dons threatened but fell short by a point. \u00a0Raton lead by six but found themselves battling to keep the lead as the seconds ticked away. Missed foul shots just before the buzzer ended the game with a Raton win by one 24-23.<\/p>\n

It started out slow in the varsity game for Raton who only managed to drop in four points in both the first and second quarters while Vegas scored 30 in the first half. Raton came out after halftime and held the Lady Dons to only three points but couldn’t score the needed points to catch back up from the 30-8 halftime deficit.<\/p>\n

Second half action also saw the Lady Tigers loose two players to fouls with both Sop[hie Medina fouling out early in the third while Giana Mares was benched late in the fourth with five fouls. Reyna Marquez found herself in foul trouble early in the game but came back out in the second half to play out the game.<\/p>\n
