Montoya, age 53, passed away peacefully in his home on September 25th, 2021, in Angel Fire, New Mexico.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jeff is survived by his two daughters, Heather, and Jacquelyn; his son, Brian; his mother, two brothers, sister, nieces, and nephews.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jeff is preceded in death by his father, Filemon Montoya; his brother, Vernon Montoya; and his Grandparents on both sides.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jeff Montoya was born on October 3rd, 1967, in Springer, New Mexico, to parents Filemon and Louise Montoya. Jeff went into the Air Force in 1986 where he served for over 25 years. He retired as a Master Sargent in 2011. In 2015, he accepted a position as a Deputy for Colfax County Sheriff\u2019s Office, where he worked for more than 6 years. Jeff was promoted to Undersheriff under Leonard Baca\u2019s term.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jeff was a very social, and outgoing person. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with friends and family. Jeff always had interesting stories to tell from either his time in the Air Force, or from his current job with the Colfax County Sheriff\u2019s office. His family and friends will always remember him as a funny, witty, sarcastic, and kindhearted person.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Funeral Services and Rosary will be held on Friday October 8th, starting at 11:00 AM in Springer, New Mexico at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Breakfast will be held at 10:00 AM. Family will be wearing Jeff\u2019s favorite color, blue, to honor him, if others would like to join, they\u2019re more than welcomed to.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jeff will then be taken to Angel Fire Memorial and be laid to rest at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the wounded warrior\u2019s foundation, or any other military related charities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Thank you to Colfax County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Angel Fire PD, United States Air Force, and other agencies across New Mexico who have help make this transition easier for the Montoya Family.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jeffrey M.
