Springer Lady Red Devils travelled up I-25 to Raton for a varsity game against Raton Monday evening April 19, 2021 that saw Springer take a 12 point lead and Raton battle back for a seesaw fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

Tied at 10 at the end of the first quarter was just the beginning that saw Raton fall behind by 12 points at one point in the second quarter as Raton simply couldn’t buy a basket. However they finally found a rhythm and battled back to a 25-21 halftime score.<\/p>\n

The third quarter was also a close one with both teams struggling to find the basket. but Raton made up the difference and ended the third quarter with four points more than Springer to pull within one.<\/p>\n

Fourth quarter action was even closer as Raton and Springer traded the lead. Springer managed to take the lead and grab a quick six point difference only to see Raton squeak back to tie the game. Raton ahead by one with only seconds left in the clock allows Springer to get the ball and go down and a foul puts Balderrama at the free throw line to add a point and extend the lead to two requiring Raton to make a 3-pointer for the win. Raton brings the ball down and Anna Acosta throws up a long 3-pointer but falls short as the buzzer sounds and give Springer the win.<\/p>\n
