{"id":38380,"date":"2018-02-21T06:40:28","date_gmt":"2018-02-21T13:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/krtnradio.com\/?p=38380"},"modified":"2018-02-22T07:27:03","modified_gmt":"2018-02-22T14:27:03","slug":"nmaa-foundation-awards-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krtnradio.com\/wp\/2018\/02\/21\/nmaa-foundation-awards-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Raton&#8217;s Hallie Medina Among NMAA Scholarship Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. \u2013<\/strong> The New Mexico Activities Association announced the recipients of the 2017-2018 NMAA Foundation Scholarships.<\/p>\n<p>The NMAA Foundation will recognize the 17 students receiving these scholarships during the NMAA State Basketball Championships which will be held March 6-10.<\/p>\n<p>Over 300 students applied for the scholarships, with nine receiving $1,000, six receiving $1,500, and two receiving $2,500.\u00a0\u00a0 There were eight different scholarship categories for which students could submit applications.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Extraordinary Participation Scholarship, presented by the NMAA Foundation ($2,500 each)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>*given to students excelling in athletics, activities, and academics<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Hallie Medina, Raton<\/li>\n<li>Jorrell Mirabal, Magdalena<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>\u201cCompete with Class\u201d Scholarships, presented by the NM National Guard ($1,500 each)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>*given to students that exemplify the ideals of sportsmanship &amp; the Compete with Class initiative<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Benjamin Rees, Los Alamos<\/li>\n<li>Danika Nelson, Texico<\/li>\n<li>Jordin Molina, Carlsbad<\/li>\n<li>Mikayla Garnard, Santa Rosa<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<strong><u>Mario Martinez Memorial Scholarship ($1,500 each)<\/u><\/strong><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>*given to students excelling in athletics and academics within Class A-3A schools<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Carlos Parra, Estancia<\/li>\n<li>Mario Archuleta, Pecos<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<strong><u>Dan &amp; Lucille Wood\/Gray Gladiator Scholarship, presented by Subway ($1,000 each)<\/u><\/strong><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>*given to students excelling in athletics and academics<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Abigail Wilton, Fort Sumner<\/li>\n<li>Michael Mounho, Eldorado<\/li>\n<li>Taylor Null, Artesia<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>Activities Scholarship, presented by Subway ($1,000 each)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>*given to students excelling in activities and academics<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Clay Bob Stearns, Capitan<\/li>\n<li>Jordyn Stowe, House<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>El Richards\/Francis Walsh Spirit Scholarship, presented by Varsity Spirit ($1,000 each)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>*given to students excelling in spirit (cheer\/dance) and academics<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Jessica Murray, Los Lunas<\/li>\n<li>Lauren Martinez, Grants<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<strong><u>Coach Dick Shelley St. Michael\u2019s HS Basketball Scholarship ($1,000)<\/u><\/strong><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>*given to students excelling in basketball and academics<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Joseph Sena, Espanola Valley<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>Ralph Ortiz BPOE Elks Club of Santa Fe Scholarship ($1,000)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>*given to students excelling in athletics and academics<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Scott Komar, Jal<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The NMAA Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was set up in 2007 to support the many students that participate in high school athletic and activity programs across New Mexico.\u00a0 The funds raised by the Foundation are used for student scholarships and school grants\/support.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. \u2013 The New Mexico Activities Association announced the recipients of the 2017-2018 NMAA Foundation Scholarships.
