{"id":26218,"date":"2016-03-24T11:33:32","date_gmt":"2016-03-24T17:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/krtnradio.com\/?p=26218"},"modified":"2016-03-29T11:18:14","modified_gmt":"2016-03-29T17:18:14","slug":"in-loving-memory-of-lawrence-j-herrera","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krtnradio.com\/wp\/2016\/03\/24\/in-loving-memory-of-lawrence-j-herrera\/","title":{"rendered":"In Loving Memory of Lawrence J.Herrera"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Lawrence Joseph Herrera, lifetime resident of Trinidad, Colorado, passed away Wednesday, March 23 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 72.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Among family and friends, Lawrence was affectionately known as Loby.\u00a0\u00a0 Loby was born on September 25, 1943 in Trinidad, Colorado. He attended Trinidad public schools and graduated from Trinidad High School.\u00a0 He went on to earn a degree in Building Trades from Trinidad State Junior College.\u00a0 He held various occupations throughout his life until his retirement from Trinidad School District #1, where he worked in food service and as a custodian.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-26310 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/krtnradio.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/herrera-l.png\" alt=\"herrera l\" width=\"276\" height=\"276\" srcset=\"https:\/\/krtnradio.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/herrera-l.png 300w, https:\/\/krtnradio.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/herrera-l-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/krtnradio.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/herrera-l-50x50.png 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px\" \/>Loby loved all sports and was a devoted fan of the Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Avalanche, but his favorite team was the Trinidad Miners.\u00a0 He could often be found in the stands at Central Park watching a Miner baseball game; and each summer he looked forward to the Trinidad Miner Baseball Alumni Weekend where he would cheer for his six nephews.\u00a0 Loby loved music and spent every spare moment playing his guitar, writing his own lyrics, and singing praise songs to God.\u00a0 He was a member of several local country bands and loved to entertain friends and family.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Loby was a true gentleman who was honest, kind, caring, and soft spoken.\u00a0 He loved spending time with his family and would do anything for his friends.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He was preceded in death by his parents Nefe and Julia Herrera, brother Joseph Herrera, brother and sister-in-law Ernest and Rachel Herrera, sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Nick Sanchez, and nephew Nick Sanchez Jr.\u00a0 He is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Lucille and Charles Salas and Ruby and John Santistevan all of Trinidad.\u00a0 He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Loby was a wonderful brother, uncle, and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him, but as we cherish his memory, we are also celebrating his life. We look forward to being with him again in heaven.
