{"id":18142,"date":"2015-06-22T20:05:19","date_gmt":"2015-06-23T02:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/krtnradio.com\/?p=18142"},"modified":"2015-06-22T21:06:02","modified_gmt":"2015-06-23T03:06:02","slug":"barbara-howard-new-welcome-center-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krtnradio.com\/wp\/2015\/06\/22\/barbara-howard-new-welcome-center-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Barbara Howard: new Welcome Center manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Joe Tarabino<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/krtnradio.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/WJ-250x55.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15376 alignleft\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" alt=\"WJ  250x55\" src=\"http:\/\/krtnradio.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/WJ-250x55.png\" width=\"250\" height=\"53\" \/><\/a>TRINIDAD \u2014 The new manager of the Colorado Welcome Center, Barbara Howard, brings a diverse background and exciting perspective to a complex position. \u00a0It requires careful juggling of city and regional interests with the requirements of the state, which funds the position with grant monies and defines the priorities of the facility. \u00a0<br \/> She was welcomed to her new position at a reception hosted by current and past volunteers at the center on Monday. \u00a0Howard began work this past week, replacing former manager Tara Marshall who has moved to a supervisory position at the City of Trinidad.<br \/> Hailing from the \u2018deep south\u2019 of Galveston, Texas, Howard has developed an impressive work history. \u00a0Her employment history includes time as a GS-4 Secretary to the U S Army Corps of Engineers and time as an executive assistant at Union Carbide. \u00a0She was also employed by the University of Texas Medical Branch, Occupational Therapy department, supporting the director. \u00a0She is the current president of the Trinidad\/Las Animas County Economic Development Board.<br \/> She also has worked as an assistant manager of an apartment complex in Galveston where she gained insight into payroll, maintenance, contracts and budget practices. \u00a0While there, she was responsibile for the complex during Hurricane Alicia and the subsequent \u00a0clean-up that followed. \u00a0<br \/> It was at this time that she met her husband to be. \u00a0Howard is the mother of five children ranging in age from 15 to 31, and wife of Trinidad Fire Chief Tim Howard.
