\u00a0 Roy F. Morris, 88, journeyed from\u00a0the\u00a0trials of this life to the great rewards awaiting him with his Savior Jesus Christ and his Heavenly Father on March 13, 2015\u00a0after battling\u00a0a lengthy illnessat his home. Roy was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,as well as\u00a0a\u00a0loyal and cherished friend of many in the community.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Roy was born on September 28, 1926, in Hoehne, Colo., to Lillian and Joe Morris.\u00a0He\u00a0was the last\u00a0surviving\u00a0person born in Hoehne, Colorado to pass away.\u00a0He grew up in Hoehne and attended Hoehne Grade School and graduated from Hoehne High School.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0 Following\u00a0high\u00a0school, Roy was employed at the Hoehne School as\u00a0school bus driver andassistant custodian.\u00a0He also was employed at the Trinidad\u00a0Municipal\u00a0Airport in the maintenance and custodial fields.\u00a0In 1955,\u00a0Roy began his own business,\u00a0\u201cRoy F. Morris Excavation Service\u201d.\u00a0In the years to follow, he built ponds, installed water lines\u00a0and completed many land leveling projects for the farmers and ranchers of the area.\u00a0He maintained\u00a0the\u00a0El Moro \u2013 Hoehne Pipeline and\u00a0the\u00a0Sunflower Valley Pipeline\u00a0as well.\u00a0Roy and Viola also owned and operated a farm and continued to\u00a0keep very busy raising cattle and growing\u00a0alfalfa and\u00a0pine trees. In 2014, due to deteriorating health, Roy closed his excavation business and began selling parts of the farm as well as\u00a0some of\u00a0his equipment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Roy was preceded in death by his infant son, Frank Morris, parents, Joe and Lillian Morris, brother, Raymond Morris, sister-in-law, Nellie Morris, sister, Elaine Martin, brother-in-law, Ted Martin, nephew, Larry Martin\u00a0and\u00a0brother-in-law, George Crichton.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Roy is survived by his\u00a0loving\u00a0wife, Viola Morris;\u00a0devoted\u00a0daughters, Katherine (James) Ferguson, Janet Morris, Carol Silva and Doris (Tom\u00a0Jr.) Zubal;\u00a0In-laws, Bernice (Joe) Schwertner, Allene Crichton, Tom (Sally) Miller and Edna Van Gundy;\u00a0Grandchild, Craig (Maria\u00a0Kristine) Frese and Great-Granddaughter Maryll\u00a0Ann Frese;\u00a0Grandchild\u00a0Misty (Lenny) Espinoza and Great-Granddaughters, Ashley, Brittany, Haley and Jazmine Espinoza;\u00a0Grandchild\u00a0Randy (Tracie) Frese and Great-Grandchildren, Hunter, Elijah, Noah and Sophia Frese;\u00a0Grandchildren\u00a0Frank Silva;\u00a0Tracy (Derek) DiCamillo,\u00a0and Great-Grandchildren Taylur, Cierra and Beau DiCamillo; and loving adopted Grandsons Father Jeeva Kumar Darsi and Father Don Bosco\u00a0Darsi.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Visitation will be Friday from 5PM-8PM at the\u00a0Comi\u00a0Chapel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Funeral Services will be Saturday,\u00a0\u00a0March 21,\u00a02015 at 10:30AM at the\u00a0Comi\u00a0Chapel with Pastor of Trinidad Christian Church, Alvin Yoder\u00a0and\u00a0Deacon Joe\u00a0Schwertner\u00a0officiating.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Private inurnment will be held at a later date.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0 In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the \u201cRoy F. Morris Memorial Educational Fund for Orphaned Indian Children\u201d\u00a0set up at the 1st\u00a0National Bank in Trinidad, Colo.; or to Noah\u2019s Ark, Trinidad, Colo.; or to\u00a0Hospice, Trinidad, Colo.;\u00a0or to your favorite charity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Arrangements\u00a0made under the direction of the\u00a0Comi\u00a0Funeral Home.\u00a0<\/p>\n
