(Hoff) Dailey, Bill grew up in Port Byron, Illinois, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from United Township High School. He went on to Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduating in 1960 with a B.A. and distinction as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi, an ROTC honoree, and senior class president. A proud brother of Sigma Nu Fraternity, he earned his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1963.<\/p>\n<p>Following graduation, Bill served his country as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He then devoted more than four decades to the practice of law with Califf &amp; Harper in Moline, also serving with distinction as City Attorney for the City of Moline. Bill&#8217;s commitment to community was wide and lasting. He served on the Board of the Health Care Service Corporation (formerly Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Illinois) from 1982 to 2008, and on the boards of the National Rifle Association, the NRA Whittington Center, and the Quad City Symphony. A member of Rotary International for more than 50 years, he was a Paul Harris Fellow and served as President of the Moline Rotary Club, a reflection of his lifelong devotion to service above self.<\/p>\n<p>In 1960, Bill married his college sweetheart, Mary Anne Diffenderfer, beginning a partnership of more than 65 years built on love, family, and shared purpose. In retirement, the two enjoyed life in Raton, New Mexico, before settling in Reno, Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Anne; his sons, Will, David (Gina), and Andrew (Sheila); his grandchildren, Troy, Ursula (Ryan Muething), Katrine, Marieke, and Noah Dailey; and his great-grandchild, Sylvie; his sister, Melinda Thompson (Way); his sisters-in-law, Julie Dailey, Alice Nix (David), and Janet Gruhn, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
