SUMMARY:New Mexico State Outdoor Recreation Division Open House
DESCRIPTION:The director of the newly created New Mexico State Outdoor Recreation Division\, Axie Navas\, will still be hosting an Open House in Raton\, but because of legislative concerns it has been moved to Thursday\, December 5th at 10 AM in the Commission Chambers of the Raton Municipal Building located at 224 Savage Ave.  Ms. Navas will be here to learn as much as she can about the recreation opportunities in our region and to explain the mission and goals of the new Outdoor Recreation Division.  This will be a great opportunity to let Santa Fe know about all the great outdoor recreation opportunities that abound in our part of the state and the importance of outdoor recreation to our economy.\nPlease save the date. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the law on April 2 that made New Mexico the 15th state to create an Office of Outdoor Recreation. The bill passed the Senate 38-0 and the House 52-14. \n“To the outdoor enthusiasts who don’t yet know about our rivers\, our rapids\, our mountains\, our trails\, our ski slopes — you will soon\,” Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said in a written statement. \n“Outdoor recreation is a key piece of our economic expansion efforts. We are building on what we have and creating job opportunities in a field where this state can\, should\, and will lead regionally and indeed nationally.
