West bound traffic came to a standstill on US 64/87 Saturday afternoon about 2:25 p.m. after a Subaru car ran into the left back corner of a semi truck trailer traveling west bound.
According to State Police the semi was traveling west on US 64/87 at about 62 mph when the driver felt a thud and looking back saw the car with damage behind him. The car came to a stop and then began to burn the driver was helped from the vehicle along with a dog, when the tire on the car blew the dog fled off into the TO Ranch pasture north of the accident.
The driver of the car was taken to MCMC with minor injuries after she was helped out of the vehicle by a retired fire fighter who just happened to be short distance behind the accident and was the first person on the scene according to Colfax County Fire Marshall Nate Sandoval. The driver of the semi was uninjured. The accident was still under investigation at press time.
