Raton Fire Fighters, Colfax County Rapid Response were dispatched to 805 North 4th Street for a camper fire at about 7:07 a.m.
Firefighters found the camper trailer fully engulfed and were able to get the fire under control however the camper was considered a total loss. A resident in the camper was evacuated with the help of another person both of which were transported by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries and smoke inhalation from the rescue effort.
Firefighters cleared the scene at about 8:15 a.m. and were assisted by Raton PD, RPS and Raton Natural Gas. The cause of the fire was unknown.
