Special Meeting Confirms Interim City Manager and City Manager Search

The Raton City Commission met Monday evening January 12 to confirm their choice for interim city manager while the search begins to find a new city manager for Raton city government.

Brian Cotter the new CEO at MCMC spoke to the commission before their executive session telling them that he is working on ways to add Telehealth to the hospital services. Also that he is creating a Patient Family Advisory Council to help improve ways the hospital can interact with the community and improve patient services.

After the commission came back into open meeting from an hour long plus executive session where they discussed the search for a new city manager and confirmed their choice for interim city manager. The search will begin by January 20, with the salary for the new city manager being dependent on experience with a suggested range of $115,000 to $ 130,000 annually. A full job description will be available at city hall and on the city web page once the job description is finalized. A tentative closing date of March 20, 2026 has been set however depending on the success of the search it could be extended.

Commissioners then approved the contract for Interim City Manager with former city commissioner Neil Segotta to begin January 21, 2026, and continue until a new city manager has been hired.

Commissioners approved the changes for Incode and bank signature cards removing former city manager Rick Mestas and adding Mayor Pro-Tem Mark Honeyfield and Deputy City Manager Jason Phillips. Mayor Lori Chatterley was already on the signature cards and will remain as mayor.

 

Neil Segotta has been appointed interim City Manager until a new city manager can be hired.
