NMDOT Winter Suspension Announced for I-25 Project Near Raton

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 17, 2025

RATON, N.M. – With winter weather approaching, the New Mexico Department of Transportation
(NMDOT) and Fisher Sand & Gravel announce that construction on Interstate 25, from Raton to the
Colorado state line, has been placed under winter suspension.
The ongoing $27-million project has paused its final phases of roadway surfacing and the installation
of shoulder rumble strips due to low temperatures. Construction is scheduled to resume this spring
when weather conditions allow crews to complete surfacing and rumble strip placement.
All lanes have been reopened to traffic throughout the winter season. The NMDOT and Fisher Sand &
Gravel thank the traveling public for their patience and cooperation and encourage motorists to drive
safely during winter weather.
