Yes it’s an early one this year as the Raton High School 2025 Homecoming activities take place the week of September 1st culminating September 6, 2025 with a parade, volleyball and football games to end the week on Saturday.

Homecoming is often near the end of September or the first part of October but this year it’s much earlier in the first week of September and on a different schedule than previous years. Normally many of the activities took place during the school day but this year most have been moved to after school. The Powder Puff game was held on its traditional Wednesday evening spot where the Senior girls out raced the Junior girls and won the game 44 -14. The Junior boys bested the Senior boys for the cheer competition trophy.

On Thursday evening September 4, at 6:30 the school held the homecoming assembly where all the fall sports teams were introduced followed by the crowning of Homecoming King and Queen. Josh Mastrontoni was crowned King with Jennifer Mattorano being crowned Queen. Afterwards mums and arm bands were handed out to parents of the players.

Friday afternoon the Raton/Maxwell X-country teams hosted a cross country meet at the Raton Golf Course with over 170 participants from 10 teams coach JR Alderette noted at the Thursday evening assembly.

On Saturday the day began with a parade on First Street followed by the Lady Tigers volleyball matches against the Trinidad Lady Miners. Following that was the Coal Bucket game with Raton and Trinidad. Raton teams were victorious with Volleyball winning in three and the Tiger Football retaining the Cola Bucket for another year. The Tigers have held the traveling bucket for nine years now.
