Groundbreaking For High-Speed Internet Service for 2,400 Raton/Colfax County Locations

RATON, NM – State officials will join Raton and Colfax County officials as internet service provider Resound Networks will break ground on a major high-speed internet infrastructure project that will
bring connectivity to 2,400 underserved locations across Raton and Colfax County.

The Tuesday, July 22 ceremony at the Raton Aquatics Center at 11:30 am will mark the
beginning of construction on a multi-million-dollar investment in Colfax County.
The groundbreaking represents the local launch of a larger $85.79 million statewide
initiative that will ultimately serve 29,875 locations across rural New Mexico through a
combination of federal funding programs and private investment.

Resound Networks is launching construction of a hybrid aerial fiber and fixed wireless
network that represents a major investment in Raton’s digital future. This project, in
partnership with the New Mexico Broadband Office through the Connect New Mexico
Fund, will provide high-speed connectivity to 1,370 locations in Raton, plus an additional
1,030 locations throughout Colfax County. These projects are part of the $19.8 million in
Connect New Mexico Funds awarded to Resound Networks throughout the state. In
addition, Resound will leverage $55.1 million from the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund and
$10.75 million from the Student Connect program to extend high-speed service to 29,875
locations across rural New Mexico.
