Raton Independent Riders once again hosted the a group of Run for the Wall riders Saturday morning as they headed east to Washington DC for the Memorial Day Rolling Thunder gathering to honor those fallen heroes.

The Moto of the riders is “We ride for those who can’t” meaning they ride for those soldiers who gave their all and for those who are simply unable to make a ride like this. The original ride began to honor those Vietnam vets that returned home to no homecoming and has expanded to include the more recent conflicts including desert storm.

This year there was just over 200 bikers that came through Raton and with the help of the Independent Riders fueled up at the Alta Station on Clayton Road before heading out on I-25 over the pass.

Raton Public Service and Raton Fire and Emergency Services fly the colors over Clayton Road near the Tourist Information Center in honor of the Run for the Wall that came through Raton Saturday morning May 17, 2025.
While it isn’t as big as it was several years ago the meaning of the ride is still the same “We ride for those who can’t”
New Mexico State Police and Santa Fe PD Motor Officers provide an state line to state line escort for the participants of the Run for the Wall as they come through New Mexico with their final stop in the state here in Raton.
