In Loving Memory of Leroy Valencia (Services Announced)

Leroy Valencia of Raton, New Mexico went home to heaven on March 30 2026.

He was born on August 10, 1944 in Otis , New Mexico to parents Gene and Lucy Valencia.

He was preceded in death by his brother Geno Valencia and is survived by his wife of 37 years, Janet Valencia. He is also survived by his 3 sons Alex, Jason, and Zach , and daughter Valerie  and 8 grandkids and 5 great grand kids with one more to be born this year.

Mr. Valencia was a decorated combat veteran in the Army 9th infantry division and received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Combat Medal , Expert Rifle Marksman, and the Combat Infantry Badge. Leroy retired from the Army on September 13, 1971. Leroy worked at Safeway for 30 years and was the co-owner of the Pack Rat in Raton , New Mexico.

He was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Leroy loved being a wood worker, and a contributor to his community,  He also enjoyed pulling his hair out watching his Broncos. Leroy never met anybody he didn’t know!

Inurnment at the Angel Fire Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 1:00PM
