Paul Joseph Ackerman, 70, of Trinidad, CO passed away on March 9, 2026.
Paul was born on October 5, 1955 in Pueblo, CO to Gervase Ackerman and Mary (O’Neill) Ackerman. He grew up in Pueblo and spent the rest of his life here in Trinidad. He graduated from South High School in Pueblo and later attended TSJC receiving an Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering Technology graduating with honors as the valedictorian.
On October 28, 1978, Paul married Diane (Torres) Ackerman in Trinidad. Together they created a loving home and raised two children, Joseph in 1979 and Nicole in 1982.
Paul worked as an electrician for the City of Trinidad for 26 years, where he was respected for his dedication and skills. In his free time, he was an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, photography, gardening, as well as baking, painting, and tying flies. Paul will be remembered for his kind and compassionate heart, his love for nature and animals, and his strong loving hugs. He touched all the lives that crossed his path.
Paul is survived by his wife, Diane Ackerman, children Joseph Ackerman, Nicole (Gabriel Ruiz) Ackerman, Mother-in-law, Rachel Torres, step-mother, Annette Ackerman, grandchildren: Patricio Ruiz, Aiyana Ruiz-Ackerman, and Naiella Ruiz-Ackerman, siblings: Peter (Jeannie) Ackerman, Tim (Lani) Ackerman, Christina (Tom) Zuech, Catherine (Anthony) Paradiso, Teresa Frye, sister-in-laws: Marti Torres (Vince Riley), Wendy (Ron) Arant, and special Aunts and Uncles: Patricia Simpson, Tony O’Neill, Patty (Harvey) Duran, Robert Garcia and Darlene Garcia; as well as numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mike (Bertha) Ackerman and John (Nellie) O’Neill, father, Gervase Ackerman, mother, Mary (O’Neill) Ackerman, father-in-law, Marty Torres, brother-in-law, Joseph Martin Torres, nephew, Wesley Zuech, and numerous beloved aunts and uncles.
Services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 9:45 AM at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 200 Church Street.
The family would like to honor the following individuals as Honorary Pallbearers, recognizing their friendship, support, and the meaningful place they held in Paul’s life: Jerry Cambell, Jeff Fleshman, Tim Mangino, Steve Montoya, Anthony Paradiso, Jimmy Ringo, Dave Zuech, and Tom Zuech.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the family asks that you do something nice for someone else in his honor.
