Raton hosted the Mora Rangerettes and Rangers for not only the home opener but also the season opener Tuesday November 25, 2025 in what turned out to be a vey low scoring night for Raton.
In the girl’s JV game it was aggressive defense that kept the Lady Tigers scoreless while Mora popped the net from 3-point territory four times for the first 12 points of the game. Raton finally put points on the board in the second but fell short with only five points in the scorebook. At the final buzzer Mora toppled the Lady Tigers 44-13.
The boy’s JV game followed and looked like they would make a game of it holding their own in the first half of play. However in the second half the Tigers went cold and only marked two in the third and five in the fourth while Mora went double digits with 10 and 19 for a final 49-19.
The girl’s varsity game started much like the girl’s JV game with Mora dominating the boards and only allowing six points for the Lady Tigers to the 31 points by Mora. In the second quarter Mora went cold and only made four shots for eight points to Raton’s eight. Strong defense and cold shooting kept Raton in single digits in the third and scoreless in the fourth. The final was 65-20.
Mora took the early lead and poured the balls in the bucket out scoring Raton 31-8 in the first quarter. The second quarter was a bit better for Raton they held Mora to only a two point difference 12-10. In the second half of the game Raton could only muster nine points for the whole half while Mora dropped in 23. At the final buzzer the varsity boys were the only team to break 20 points on the night with a final score of 66-27.
