Raton Tigers manhandle the Estancia Bears for a district win in the Jungle Friday night October 31, 2025. The game has playoff implications for both teams as a win for Raton will give Raton a home playoff game.
The Bears won the coin toss and elected to receive to begin the game and nine plays later they turned the ball over on downs to the Tigers at the Raton 23. Despite a fumble on the sixth play of the series inside the red zone Raton held on and took it inside the five where Colt Ayon took it in for six from the three. Logan two “T” Elliott adds the PAT for a 7-0 game at 1:55 in the first quarter.
Estancia returns the favor on the next series of plays where Mateo Lucero pounds the ball over the goal line from the five for the Bears first TD of the evening. The PAT is wide and leaves Raton up by one 7-6 at 7:56 in the second quarter.
On the kickoff Luciano Castillo takes it the distance for a TD but a yellow hanky brought the ball back to the Raton 25. On the ground and a couple of passes Raton takes 11 plays to go the 75 yards to finish it with a 17 yard TD rush. Elliott ads the PAT for a 14-6 with 1:21 left in the half.
To begin the second half of play Luciano Castillo takes the kickoff 75 yards for a Raton TD. Elliott adds the PAT to make it 21-6 at 11:47 on the third quarter clock. Raton holds Estancia to a four and out and takes the punt at the Raton 47 after Luciano Castillo was stripped of the ball and Colt Ayon saved the fumbled ball. Walton breaks a tackle and scrambles 53 yards for another Raton six. The PAT was tipped by Joshua Villafuerte to leave it 27-6 at 9:54 on the third period clock.
Another short series for the Bears gives Raton the ball on their 35. Four plays later it’s a fourth and three Luciano Castillo takes the Braylen Walton pass and darts for 53 yards and another Raton TD. The Elliott PAT is good for a 34-6 score at 5:04 in the third.
Another four and out for Estancia gives Raton the ball on 45. It’s the Harlem Coley show as he goes five then two 18 yard runs and finishes the series with a five yard run for six at 1:16 on the clock. Elliott again nails the PAT for a 41-6 ball game.
The Bears take the ball into the fourth quarter and on the seventh play of the series Harlem Coley scoops up a fumble and goes 60 yards for a Raton TD. Two “T” Elliott splits the uprights and makes it 48-6 score.
After the Kickoff the Bears gain big yards and in four plays cross the goal line with a Devon Chavez pass to Daniel Hernandez for a 14 yard scoring play. Hernandez adds the PAT for a 48-13 score at 4:49 on the running clock.
Raton take sth ball to the 50 yard line and Colt Ayon takes the Braylen Walton hand off and races practically untouched 50 yards to pay dirt for a 54-13 score at 3:46 left in the fourth quarter. On the kickoff Estancia fumbles the ball Warren Berry falls on it, then Raton fumbles and Estancia’s Mateo Lucero scoops it up and goes to the Raton 40. From there they go down inside the red zone to the four yard line where the Raton defense holds and ends the game with the mark in the win column.
Playoff seatings will be determined this weekend after all the Saturday games have been completed.
