Tom was born in Gallup, New Mexico in 1942. His grandfather and father worked and helped
develop the Two Grey Hills Trading Post in Toadlena, New Mexico. Tom joined the Navy at 19
years old. He later worked in many fields like banking, insurance, finance & construction. He
enjoyed being a contractor for the Santa Fe Railroad where his sons worked with him and later
started, JC & Sons, where he and his sons were firewood contractors. He loved his life with his
wife, Cathy, and kids in the small town of Coruco, New Mexico, where they helped build an
adobe church and were very active in the community. They also were foster parents to many
children & teenagers in the area, showing them love and kindness like they were their own.
They then moved to Clayton, New Mexico where he sold insurance and later became the City
Manager. They were very active in Clayton and the surrounding community. They later moved
right outside of Clayton about 30 miles to Clapham, New Mexico. They refurbished the old
school house from the 1890’s where they lived for many happy years. When Tom’s health took
a turn, they moved to Longmont, Colorado where they could be closer to hospitals and nearer
to family, where he lived out his final days on a ranch with his family, also surrounded by
alpacas, horses, chickens, geese, ducks, peacocks, turkeys and pheasants. Tom had a big
family and many great friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
