Nancy Brown passed away on October 10, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born in Raton, New Mexico November 27, 1950, to parents Jesse and Annie Martin. Nancy devoted her life to educating her community as a middle school teacher of 34 years in Albuquerque Public Schools, working as a community partner in helping Kindergarteners practice reading, and helping adults learn English. Books were her sanctuary, her adventure, and her constant companion throughout life.
She was grateful for the unwavering support her devoted partner, Gary Lamuth. She is survived by her daughter and family, Emily Avila, Rich Padilla, and Albert Teeguarden along with daughter and family, Elaine and Zechariah Pugh, and grandchildren, Natalia and Tasimba Jonga, Sarah Capella, Zechariah IV, Jonah, and Clarabeth Pugh.
In the quiet moments and the hardest days her niece, Annie Grubelnik was a light- steadfast, generous, and deeply kind. Her family is forever thankful.
She is survived by her beloved sisters Patricia Butt, Pam Martinez, and Margaret Berggren, whose love was a thread woven through every chapter of her life.
She lovingly served at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church for almost 50 years in various ministries, the location in which her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 11:00 am located at 211 Jefferson Street in Albuquerque.
In remembrance of Nancy’s life and legacy, the family encourages those who loved her to honor that love by protecting the next generation HPV-related cancers are preventable, and vaccination is a powerful act of care. if you have children or young people in your life, please talk to their healthcare provider about the HPV vaccine. it’s a simple step that can save lives and a tribute to Nancy’s enduring spirit of kindness and protection.
