On August 14th, 2025, Annabelle Martinez of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her home at the golden age of 95. Annabelle spent her final moments with her younger sister Sophia Doran.
Annabelle was born in Trinidad, Colorado to Jennie and Bob Sanchez on June 6th, 1930. She was their eldest daughter, followed by her five younger sisters (Ramona, MaryEllen, Louise, Sophia, and Ercilia.) The six sisters grew up together under the same roof, and remained close throughout their entire lives.
Annabelle was happily wed to Anastasio (Ted) Martinez on June 30th, 1951. They completely adored each other, and were married for 25 wonderful years.
Annabelle graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Trinidad, Colorado. She later attended Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Annabelle went on to teach in multiple schools around the Trinidad Country area, but spent a majority of her teaching career at Trinidad’s East Elementary School, where she retired after 30 years of service.
Annabelle loved reminiscing about the years she spent as a teacher. She often recalled memories of her students in the past, and shared the joy they brought her.
Annabelle was preceded in death by her husband Ted Martinez, her parents Bob and Jennie Sanchez, and her sisters: Ramona Navarette, MaryEllen Casias, Louise Garcia, Ercilia Garcia, and he mother in law Rachel Salazar. She is survived by her sister Sophia Doran and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Annabelle has touched the hearts of many; she has left a positive impact on countless people throughout her life. She will be greatly missed for her caring personality, enthusiastic encouragement, and loving sense of humor. Annabelle was very fond of spending quality time with her sisters, their families, and the friends she’s made throughout the years.
Annabelle will be cherished and loved forever.
Annabelle’s Funeral Mass will take place at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Trinidad, Colorado on August 26th, 2025. The service will begin promptly at 9:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, Annabelle has requested that donation be made in her name to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
