Jerry Weaver, 72, passed away on August 5, 2025, at his home in Trinidad, Colorado.
Born on October 13, 1952, in La Junta, Colorado, to Fern and Ray Weaver, Jerry grew up with a love of hard work, family, and the simple joys of life. He graduated from Hoehne High School in 1971 and went on to spend 35 years with the BNSF Railroad, where his dedication and work ethic earned the respect of his colleagues.
Outside of work, Jerry was a craftsman through and through. Whether in his garage or workshop, he found joy in shaping wood into something beautiful or breathing new life into old cars. He had a talent for working with his hands, and his creations reflected his skill, pride, and attention to detail.
Jerry’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his children: Kirk (Eugenia) Weaver, Kyle Weaver, and Kasey (Eric) Blocker; grandchildren: Kaleb (Deja) Mehaffy, Shyanne Mehaffy, Aurora Weaver, Aden Weaver, and Nicole Blocker; and great-grandchildren: Phoenix and Lawton Mehaffy. He is also survived by his siblings: Jody (Liz) Weaver, Chuck (Carolyn) Weaver, and Yvonne (James) Foster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fern and Ray; his brother, Jackie Weaver; and his granddaughter, Kindra Owens.
Those who knew Jerry will remember his quiet strength, his trademark “tough guy” look in photos, and his knack for turning a simple piece of wood or a rusty old car into something worth admiring. He was also known for telling outrageous stories — especially about hunting dragons, tales that were as unforgettable as they were unbelievable.
A memorial service to honor Jerry’s life will be held on August 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Comi Funeral Home, with a reception immediately following at El Rancho.
