In Loving Memory of Manuel Onie Duran

 Manuel Onie Duran, age 87, formerly of Trinidad, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in Brilliant, New Mexico, on July 24, 1937, to Eliseo and Genevive Duran. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Anna, brother Andrew (Maxine), sisters Mary, Martha, and other deceased siblings, nieces Bernadette, Cheryl, and Marie. He is survived by his son Mike (Shirley), stepdaughter Monica (Dave), Grandchildren Michael (Grace), Alyssa (Dan), Brittany (Jacob), Kiana, Natalie, John, and Heidi (Gabe). Great-grandchildren Aurelia, Lennon, Darian, Gabrielle, and Madison. Great-Great-Grandchildren Harper, Leighton, Kenleigh, and Braylee. Brother Daniel (Virginia) Duran, sisters Margaret Apodaca, and Julie (Ernie) Trujillo. Brother-in-law Dennis (Kathy) Martinez, Sisters-in-law Gerrie (Chuck) Garcia, Myra Gutierrez. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A graduate of Primero Union High School in 1955. He proudly served in the U.S. Army with Bravo Battery, C 1/20th Artillery, achieving the rank of Sergeant over 9 years of dedicated service, and was awarded the National Defense Medal and Sharpshooter Badge with the M16. He also worked throughout his life as Aguilar Town Marshall, Colorado State Corrections Officer, salesman for Pepsi Cola, and construction in the Vail Valley, as well as up and down the Front Range. Services will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Blvd., at 10:00 a.m. Colorado Springs; followed by Military Funeral at 12:00 p.m. at Pikes Peak National Cemetary, 10545 Drennan Rd. Colorado Springs, Colorado. He will be greatly missed by all his family, friends, and all who knew him.
