Helen Marie Garcia, 80, of Raton, NM passed away on July 6th, 2025, at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, CO. Helen survived by her husband Joe Garcia, Sister Marcella Guara (Ted Guara), Brother-in-law Ben Garcia (Shirly), Lloyd Garcia, Josephine Garcia (Pete), Rosie Cardenas, Helen Benevides. Children Steve Garcia, Lorraine Garcia (Leonard Dominguez) and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Joe Larry and Cordelia Bernal, Father and Mother-in-law Jake and Florence Garcia, daughter Cordelia Garcia, son Joseph Garcia, daughter-in-law Laurie Garcia, grandkids Justin and Kevin Garcia, brothers Teddy and Paul Bernal, sisters Rebecca Salazar, Jaunita Tafoya. Brother-in-law Jake Garcia, Gilbert Garcia, George Garcia, Sister-in-law Auralia Ponce and many more family members.
Helen was born on June 18th, 1945, in Cheyenne, Wyoming and later moved with her family to Ocate, NM. Helen met her husband Joe Garcia where she raised her family in Raton, NM. What Helen enjoyed more than anything was her family. Helen loved the holidays as she hosted all holidays and family gatherings. She loved to cook and bake as she was well known for her homemade enchiladas, sopapillas, bread, pumpkin pie, choke cherry jelly and much more. Helen loved having poker night with her family and friends. Helen also bowled where she was on a lady’s team as well as a couple’s team. Helen also loved bingo and attending yard sales. Helen practiced her faith in Catholicism; she attended Sunday mass and rosary and was also the president of the Carmelite Society for many years. She will be dearly missed. Recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025, at 11:00am by the Carmelite Society, at the Saint Patrick’s Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30am at Saint Patrick’s Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant.
