Irene Romero passed away on April 5, 2025.
She was born on October 19, 1941 and was preceded in death by her husband, Alex A Romero; parents, Jake and Ethel Hammond; Sister Elsie Montoya, Brother Oscar Hammond, and Sister Patricia Gonzales.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Romero, Mary Jean Harris, Paul Romero, Andrea Apodaca, and her husband Ace Apodaca. Grandchildren, Paul II, Thomas II Cameron and Angie, Seth and Emma, Anthony and Haili. Great Grandchildren: Jacob Romero, Joseph Romero, Ayriah Romero, Elian Apodaca, and Korbin Romero. Her brother, Charles Hammond, and wife Colleen, Many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly as well, and her surviving Aunt Jenny Sanchez and great nieces and nephews.
She was loved dearly by her family and the community that she served as an employee of Miners Colfax Medical Center for over 30 years. She was a skilled phlebotomist that everybody loved and would go out of their way just to have their blood drawn by her. She also did histology, which every doctor that saw her slides said they were the best slides they had ever seen, and thanked her for them.
She will be missed, and forever in our hearts of everybody that loved her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home recited by Frank Cimino. Rite of Committal and inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
