We as the parents of Arlando Ray Segura want to not only to congratulate our son for not only putting in the hard work to not only catch up in all his classes at Raton High but graduate. Our son put up with being called a N_ _ _ _ _ with a hard R by a teacher last year and still held his head high all while having to watch that same teacher keep their job. This year was no exception. Arlando got a racist comment thrown at h.im a few days before graduation at Raton High and because of being put through these such things on a daily basis he wasn’t allowed to walk with the class of 2025. The student was slapped by our son and one of his parents is a teacher at Raton High. To add insult to no only Arlando not getting to walk with his class and recieve his diploma. The school didn’t even bother to announce his name at graduation. Talk about a way below the belt move by the school system. No child deserves to be treated that way. Bullying has no place in schools and something needs to be done about it. Racism has no place in schools and something needs to be done about it.
