She was born on January 23, 1943 to Trinidad and Clorinda(Cora Valesquez) Quintero. She grew up in small coal mining town called Ramey. Then later on moved to Aguilar, CO where she went to grade school and high school and graduated in 1962. Ramona then married the love of her life, Martin R Gonzales on November 7, 1964 . They lived in Fort Collins, for a few years then moved back to Aguilar where Ramona became a full-time mother to their 4 daughters Jenifer Gonzales, Helen (Gonzales) Kensey, Shirley Gonzales, and Carmen Gonzales.Ramona enjoyed cooking and baking and she loved to crochet and embroider. She also enjoyed going out dancing, spending time with her family and her friends and the occasional fishing trip.Ramona is proceeded in death by her loving husband; Martin Gonzales, her parents Trinidad and Cora Quintero, brother Pete Quintero, sister-in-law Mary Quintero, brother Martin Quintero, brother Ernest Quintero, sister-in-law Ruby Quintero, brother-in-law Ted Johnson, father and mother-in-law Rudolph and Helen Gonzales, brother-in-law Lawrence Gonzales, sister-in-law Alvera Gonzales Archuleta, brother-in-law Claude Archuleta, and sister-in-law Celestina Gonzales Abayta .
Ramona’s survivors include: sister, Daisy Johnson Iron River, Michigan; daughter Jennifer Gonzales, Aguilar, Colorado; grandchildren Jamie Dolzanie (Luis Monoz), Trinidad; Steven Dolzanie(Rebecca Dolzanie), Trinidad; Cody Frohn (Anisha Gonzales) also of Trinidad.
Daughter, Helen Gonzales Kinsey, Fountain, Colorado: grandchildren Kausha Learned (Matt Learned) Colorado Springs, Kaylee Martin (Matt Martin) Colorado Springs.
Daughter Shirley Gonzales, Colorado Springs, and grandchildren, Manuel Gonzales(Ashton Gonzales) , Donny Vigil (Jasmine Jaramillo), Dante Vigil (Guadalupe Batres) all of Colorado Springs, CO.
Daughter Carmen Gonzales, Colorado Springs, and grandchildren Andrew(AJ)Gonzales, Devon Gonzales, Ariana Gonzales all of Colorado Springs, Colorado along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and bonus grandchildren.
Romona will be missed by all those whose lives she has touched.
Services for Ramona Gonzales will be held May 28, 2025 at 1:00 pm at First Christian Church, 200 S. Walnut St., Trinidad Colorado.
A Celebration of Ramona‘s Life will be held in Aguilar at the community center following funeral services.
