In Loving Memory of Esther Lucero

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Esther Lucero, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, who entered eternal rest at the age of 89. She lived a life of unwavering faith, kindness, and integrity, always guided by her devotion to the Catholic Church and her deep love for two sons, her family, and friends. Also known as the friendly face at the “Bakery” in Raton.

Born on December 8th, 1935, in Gardner, NM, Esther was a woman of quiet strength and boundless love. She dedicated her life to caring for others, offering wisdom, warmth, and a comforting presence to all who knew her. Her deep faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she found joy in prayer, service, and sharing God’s love with those around her.

She was the cherished mother of Manuel Lucero of Colorado Springs, CO and Sandy Lucero,(Jonni) of Pueblo, CO a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren, Brooklyn Lucero of Colorado Springs, CO, Manuel Lucero Jr, Colorado Springs, CO, Joshua Lucero (Jessica, wife) of Raton, NM, Jeremy Lucero (Destinee, companion) of Raton, NM, Sydni and Shelbi Silva of Pueblo, CO and Deidre Lucero of Pueblo, CO, eight great grandchildren and a treasured sister and aunt. Her family was her greatest joy, and she instilled in them the values of honesty, compassion, and grace. She was also a devoted friend, always offering a kind word and a helping hand.

Esther will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness. Though she is no longer with us in body, her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be recited by the Legion of Mary, at St. Patrick/St. Joseph Church on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, at noon, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM, with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  The reception to honor Esther will take place at the Parish Hall.

Rest in peace, dear Esther. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)
