2043 Raton High School US Presidential Scholars Program Nominees

The US Presidential Scholars program was established in 1964 and have honored over 8000 outstanding high school seniors. It was first based on recognition solely on academic excellence, but in 2016 the program started recognizing students who were outstanding in the CTE fields as well. In addition to Academics and CTE, students are nominated for their Involvement and Service in their school and communities, leadership and character, writing samples, extraordinary achievements, and overcoming an obstacle. There are 4 phases of the program and at each stage the field gets narrower and at the end 3 students (1 Academic boy, 1 Academic girl, and 1 CTE student) from New Mexico will be chosen to go to Washington DC to be presented a Presidential medallion at a White House ceremony.

Raton High School is pleased to announce Raton High School’s 2024-2025 nominees as:

(LtoR) Academic—Cannon Walton, son of Brock and Ashley Walton

Academic—Anisia Martinez, daughter of Brianne Hernandez

CTE—Clayton Kelley, son of James and Victoria Kelley
