DESCRIPTION:Just about everybody has heard the Christmas story at some point in their life.  In fact it has become so familiar that we tend to think God’s miracles are confined to some faraway place in the long distant past. \nBut did you ever wonder how the story would have been told if it had taken place in the New Mexico Territory in the 1800’s?  That’s the setting for the Christmas Musical entitled\, “For Unto Y’all”  to be presented Friday\, December 11th and Sunday\, December 13th at 6:00 pm at the First Baptist Church at the corner of 3rd and Rio Grande in Raton. \nIt is a light-hearted look with a life-changing message\, complete with all the trappings of the Old West\, including a hoedown\, a saloon in a dusty cattle town\, and cowboys on the range–and don’t forget the masked man on a white horse. \nAdmission is free and there will be refreshments following  both performances.  So round up your posse and “Y’all Come!”

There will be an urgent meeting on Monday\, December 14th at 5:30 pm in the International Room upstairs at the International Bank (enter off Cook Avenue in Raton). City Manager Scott Berry and Police Chief John Garcia will be there to talk about the need to support and help our local Police Department.  \nIf you care about stopping vandalism in Raton\, please come to this meeting! The public needs to get involved if we are to stem this onslaught which has resulted in the rising costs of replacing or boarding up windows and property insurance. We immediately need to set up a Crime Stoppers Reward Fund to pay for anonymous tips leading to the arrest and conviction of those vandals perpetrating these property crimes. \n  \n

Meet the author\, Isis M Grayling and pick up a copy of Hans Von Lilyblade – A Collection of Short Stories and Poems. Ms. Grayling’s book for children was a finalist int he New Mexico Press Women’s Association 2015 Excellence in Communications Awards. \nThis collection is filled with fantastical short stories and poetry for children. A rainbow of fun\, very young children will enjoy being read to from this book\, and as they learn to read\, the large text will help them along. Hans Von Lilyblade – A Collection of Short Stories and Poems will be available at the special purchase price of $10 at this event. \nIsis M Grayling is a prolific writer and painter living in the mountains of New Mexico with Black Bears\, Mule Deer and Scrubjays. Ms. Grayling holds a strong affinity for nature\, and children which comes through in this collection.
