SUMMARY:Annual Family Health Fair (Raton)
DESCRIPTION:Individuals of all ages from Colfax County\, the surrounding areas and beyond are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to obtain important health screenings and information from exhibitors at the Annual Family Health Fair. This year’s event will be held Thursday\, April 28\, 2016 at the Raton Convention Center\, located at 901 South Third Street\, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. \nForty-four health related exhibitors from NM and Southeastern Colorado will be on-site to greet the 1200-1500 adult and youth participants who are expected to be in attendance. Numerous free and reduced-fee health screenings can be found throughout the convention center along with information from over 40 educational exhibitors and professionals who will have information on a wide variety of health topics. Appointments are not needed for the screenings\, but will be taken on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nUpon registration at one of the two main entrances to the convention center\, participants will be asked to sign-in before receiving a registration bag that will include an exhibitor location map\, a health history form to record health screening results and a participant evaluation form\, which must be completed in order to be eligible for the many door prizes donated by area businesses. Participants will also receive a piece of fruit courtesy of donations from grocery stores and businesses throughout the county.\nhealth fair red landscapeFREE Health Screenings Include: \nOxygen and Pulse performed by Tiger Den Wellness Center\nChild Developmental Screenings for speech\, language\, motor and cognitive development. The Children’s Workshop professionals will be conducting these screenings for children birth to age three.\nGenex Screening performed by Medicine Shoppe/Del Norte Home Med.\nEye screening for kids by Raton Lions Club\nOtosopx and audiometric screen for anyone 18 years older performed by DigiCare Hearing\nGeriatric fall risk assessment & strength assessment by Rocky Mountain Physical Therapy\nREDUCED FEE Screenings Include: \nColfax General Laboratory (Tony Bustos)\nComprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) ($35)\nLipid Panel ($35)\nComplete Blood Count (CBC) ($25)\nThyroid Panel ($60)\nTotal Cholesterol ($10)\nPSA ($60)\nHBAIC ($25)\nThere is also a Community Blood Drive put on by United Blood Services going until 2 pm. \nThis year’s health fair sponsors are the City of Raton\, Southwest Border Food Safety and Defense Center and the NMSU – Colfax County Cooperative Extension Service. The Cowboys was filmed at various locations in New Mexico and Colorado. \n \nA grizzled veteran rancher\, Wil Andersen (John Wayne) is almost ready to embark on a big cattle drive when his crew abruptly quits to join in a gold rush. Left with no alternative\, Anderson enlists the help of a group of local schoolboys. Training the youngsters to be cowboys\, Andersen manages to get the drive underway\, but their long journey is placed in jeopardy when the devious bandit Long Hair (Bruce Dern) sets his sights on stealing the herd.
