DESCRIPTION:Community Hikes \nPhilmont Scout Ranch would like to invite members of the community to experience a glimpse of the Ranch. We will be hosting community hikes to several of our popular hiking destinations. \nIf you would like to attend one of the hikes please RSVP to philmont.trainingcenter@scouting.org by Saturday\, August 3rd. Hikes will meet at the Philmont Training Center office and shuttles to the trail head will be provided. \nThursday\, August 8th – 8:30 am – 11:30 am – Lover’s Leap Hike \nLovers Leap is an iconic Philmont spot. The 2.5-mile hike from Lover’s Turnaround to\nLovers Leap has some elevation change\, with the base of the canyon at 6\,500 feet\nclimbing to the jutting cliff face at 7\,372 feet. Join us in visiting this ancient rock and\ndiscover the legend that gave it its name! This easy half-day\, staff led\, 5-mile roundtrip\nhike contains some trail inclines and declines. \nRequirements\nChildren must be accompanied by an adult on the hikes.\nA BSA Health Form Part A & B must be filled out and given to the PTC office for each hiker.\nBSA Health Form\nEach group needs to bring hiking essentials\nWater – Please bring at least 2 litres of water per hiker\nRaingear – Each hiker should have a rain jacket or poncho\, the weather can change rapidly\nSun Protection/Insect Repellent\nAppropriate Footwear – Closed toed shoes and socks are required\nSnack food\nExtra layers\nPhilmont will provide\nStaff to guide the hikes\nThese staff are familiar with the routes\, will carry a map and first aid kit.\nTransportation from the Philmont Training Center to the trail head and back at the conclusion of the hikes
