DESCRIPTION:The Raton Lions Club is having their second annual Toy Land Character Contest. We invite contestants to use their talent to create new characters that will be displayed on Apache Avenue on the way to City of Bethlehem. \nEveryone is welcome to participate in this contest\, individuals\, groups\, businesses\, clubs\, etc. \nIllustration by Jim Mullings for Mike Pappas’ book RATON History Mystery and More. “Driving up Toyland”\nFirst place – $150\nSecond Place – $100\nThird Place – $75\nFourth Place – $50 \nJudging of the characters will be on November 17 at 1pm at Climax Canyon. All characters made and donated will be accepted and displayed every year during the Christmas holiday. We ask that you put your name and date on the back of the character. \nPlease call 575-447-1242 if you have any questions and to register your name and character. DESCRIPTION:America Recycles Day was started in 1997 by the National Recycling Coalition and is declared each year by Presidential Proclamation\, encouraging Americans to commit to recycling. Since 2009\, this day has been a program of Keep America Beautiful. \nThe Trinidad Tech Shop has pledged to do our part in responsibly recycling end of life electronics and refurbishing useful gadgets for our community and those around us. \nPlease drop off your unused home or business electronics during this event so that your e-waste is processed correctly FREE OF CHARGE. \nLast year we recycled about 200 lbs of electronics during our event. Since then our business has grown and we recycle that much or more regularly. We hope to make a much larger impact this year with the help of the community.
