DESCRIPTION:Join the staff at Sugarite Canyon State Park for their Memorial Day Weekend events.\n\nFriday\, May 22nd\, 7 pm: Summer Safety at Soda Pocket Amphitheater. Join a park ranger to learn about safety precautions to enjoy the most of summer. \nSaturday\, May 23rd: 9 am Coffee with a Ranger at Lake Alice Campground. Join a park ranger for coffee\, hot chocolate and donuts while learning a little summer safety.2 pm Hike at Deer Run Trail meets at Lake Alice Campground. Guided 1.5 hour nature hike. Bring hat\, sunscreen\, hiking shoes\, binoculars and water.  \nSunday\, May 24th: 11 am On the Boardwalk:  New Mexico Legends at Park Visitor Center. Walk the boardwalk to see the local birds and hear tales of New Mexico legends.  \nMemorial Day\, Monday\, May 25th:  9 am Coal Camp Tour at Park Visitor Center. SUMMARY:Targets & Treasures~ Shooting Event with Geocaches
DESCRIPTION:Targets and Treasures is an unusual event which will combine target shooting and geocaching on Saturday\, May 23rd The event includes several shooting sports\, archery and the scavenger-hunt fun of geocaching in and around beautiful and historic Trinidad. \nTargets and Treasures will feature target shooting using shotguns\, air rifles\, handguns\, and muzzle-loading rifles plus an archery event. In between the target shooting stops\, contestants will be given coordinates to geocache locations. Those caches must be found before they can move on to the next shooting event. \nWinners will be selected based on the time it took to complete the entire nine-station course. \nThe contest will start and end at Trinidad State Junior College’s Prator Gun Range\, located six miles southeast of Trinidad\, 42013 County Road 24.6.  \nThe entry fee of $75 per team includes ammunition and the use of firearms. Register online at targetsandtreasures.com \nWalk-ups are welcome\, but space will be limited to 40 teams. \nSafety briefing 7 a.m. at Prator Gun Range \nShooting starts at 8 a.m. \nSponsored by TSJC and the Trinidad Tourism Board.
