Jonathan Steve Fernandez, age 29, died on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in Clayton, New Mexico.
Rosary will be recited at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 23, 2017 by Deacon P. Louis Montoya and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. following the Rosary at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Joel Bugas as Celebrant Burial will follow on the Fernandez Ranch near Farley, New Mexico by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Jonathan Steve Fernandez was born on November 7, 1988 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Steve Fernandez and Dixie (Silversmith) Fernandez. He graduated from Clayton High School in 2007 and received a scholarship to New Mexico State University for Bull Riding. Jonathan was a welder, rancher, cowboy, and heavy equipment operator. He loved his family and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother; Elsie Fernandez and his maternal great-grandmother; Mary Silversmith.

PARENTS: Steve and Dixie Fernandez of Clayton, New Mexico.
2 SISTERS: Erica Michelle Morfin and her husband Gary of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Tenaya Danielle Davis and her husband Joseph of Amarillo, Texas.
PATERNAL GRANDFATHER: Steve Fernandez, Sr. of Springer, New Mexico.
MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER: Alice Silversmith of Gallup, New Mexico.
5 NIECES & NEPHEWS: Ashlyn Morfin, Bria Morfin, Calen Morfin, Seth Cooper Davis and Miles Alexander Davis and two more on the way.
Numerous Aunts and Uncles including some that he was especially close to: Rose Marie Esquivel, Catherine Ann Vandyke, Barbara Jean Madrid, Betty Louise Segura, Rita Veronica Palacios and Ronald Silversmith.
