Raton Tigers 3-0 with Win Over Socorro

The Raton Tiger football team will travel many miles for their 2017 season and the trip to take on their nemesis Socorro Warriors seemed a little shorter after a 35-28 win over the 4A opponent on Friday, September 8th.

The Tigers offense opened up holes for quarterback Dustin Segura all night long which allowed the senior to score four rushing TDs. Three of the scores were 10 yards or less, but a third quarter 73 yard scamper was essential for the Tigers to maintain a two touchdown cushion over Socorro, a cushion that was essential as the Warriors made a late charge, scoring two unanswered TDs and recovering an on-side kick, before time ran out.

Raton’s Segura also accounted for an aerial TD with a 45 yard connection with Nathaniel  Tarbox.

With the win, Raton is now 3-0 and will have their Homecoming this Friday, September 15th against the Questa Wildcats.  Kickoff at 7 pm in the Jungle with the broadcast on KRTN FM 93.9 and streamed on Network1Sports.com

Yowza! My first Raton HS football game in many years. Thank you for online streaming your gamecast, for replacing The Range, for having sponsors that I knew and worked for as a youth and the enjoyment of listening to the voices of NE NM where I learned to speak and listen, with color and honesty.
